Part 1 – Dry Installation Basics: Installing vinyl on your vehicle is very easy and requires minimal tools. For best results, we recommend cleaning the surface on which you will also be using our overlay, which should include removing any wax, dirt and/or debris. For the cleaning process, a clay stick is highly recommended: CLEANING PREP SPRAY & CLAY BAR’s SOLDHERE). Before you start installing any vinyl covering, make sure you are working in the right conditions, you should not install vinyl in direct sunlight, and never use vinyl in temperatures that are not too hot or too cold. Our in-house expert installers say the best temperature to install vinyl is between 65 and 72 degrees (F). Vinyl can be installed in temperatures as low as 65 degrees (F) and as high as 90 degrees (F). Vinyl is more difficult to conform and hold but installs in cooler temperatures, which is why we recommend waiting until the temperature rises or installing in a temperature-controlled environment.

Part 2: After completing Part 1 – Dry Installation Basics, you can continue with this step.

Alignment: Use the inside corners and edges of the letters to help you align the vinyl in place, once aligned everything else will fall into place.

Once you’re happy with the placement, use the spatula, starting in the center of the overlay and working your way to the outer edge, vigorously expelling the air under the vinyl while applying it to the surface.

Use a spatula to go back through the cover to make sure all the air is removed from under the vinyl, then all that’s left to do is remove the transfer tape and heat the material with a heat gun, or leave the vinyl in warm sunlight for a few hours to fully solidify.
