Fondant Letters On Cake – I usually decorate my cakes with fondant letters. Writing on the cake makes the cake extra special. Here is a tutorial on how to make paper from fondant or gum paste.

1) Start by adding icing color to the fondant or gum paste using the color of your choice. I usually use Wilton’s colors for coloring fondant and gum paste. Dip the toothpicks in the paste color and apply the color to the fondant cover. After that, knead the fondant until the color is spread over the whole part.

2) Add a little tylo powder to make it easier to work with the fondant (if you use gum paste, you don’t need the tylo powder). Please note: If the fondant or resin is left on the table for a long time, it will dry out and cannot be used again. I always protect my fondant by wrapping it in plastic wrap when not in use to prevent it from drying out.

7) Let the paper dry on a flat surface. I usually put my letters on a plate that I have covered with cornmeal so that the letters don’t stick to the plate.

10) You can do the paper a week in advance. Place the letters under plastic wrap to protect them from dust. Store the letters in a cool, dry place – not the refrigerator. Don’t forget to make extra sheets in case some of them break when you transfer them to the cake.

Please note! If you want to make letters on the side of the cake, you should make the letters before putting them on the cake because if they are dry, you will not be able to put them on the side of the round cake.
