Replacing Range Rover Letters – Hey guys. I’ve been wanting to change the lettering on RRS for a while because the original lettering is worn out and looks bad. I think I’ll need some kind of polisher as the area inside the letters can’t be cleaned well and it’s really toxic.

So I went to the shop to get an orbital polisher, some foam pads and a light polishing compound, because this is the first time I will do polishing, I don’t want to use anything aggressive as a trip to the autobodyshop and repainting the hood is not part of the plan. Well, it’s easier then I thought. I took some basic measurements – the distance from the bottom of the letter to the corner of the hood, about 22-23mm. I have left a slight shadow after the old letter to give me some directions, just in case.

Has anyone tried this cleanser? Of course it’s clay in the spray and issued with dirt attached to the paint and change color when not … I went to the carwash and then washed the car again in front and sprayed this and OMG!!! This thing works, every small point litlle start “blood” sort of maroon color when reacting with the spray. Paint becomes more smooth after that. It may not be as strong and efficient as manual clay but it definitely makes the surface smoother – and you don’t have to do anything – which is awesome!

A lot of effort when the replacement kit is available for probably less than the gear that you buy for your new one.

What is a lettering kit? I mean I bought a new letter, before changing it, I just want to buff-up the bottom surface and close it around because if the new letter goes on, it will be difficult. Obviously, I’ll pass on the rest of the Rover.

Yes, I bought the letters with foam cages to keep the proper spacing, don’t you see the picture? As for the other thing you said – part of the kit, I want to polish the whole car, not just under/near the letters and I have 2 other cars to take care of…

If you could post a link to the full set of gear change letters, that would be great for you, so others can use it.

Agree also, powerfulluk sells a kit at a reasonable price as well. No matter how you do it, the results speak for themselves. A good polisher to have the ether method. One thing to remember is that you decide to coat the ceramic or use a sealant before applying the letters because the glue will not stay.

It was mentioned in another reply that there is a complete kit with means to clean the paint surface after the letters are removed. Because the letters are raised, the area never cleans well and is very contaminated. If you don’t have a rotary polisher, make sure your letter kit has the means and methods to decontaminate the paint in the area.

I’ve been putting this off for months now (yes, I’ve been thinking about it for a few years) so I finally got round to digging the letters out of the kitchen picture, cleaning up the back and applying double-sided tape (which is the reason I’ve been putting the project off for so long on first place).

So an hour or so later they were ready to fit. Get out to the drive with a heat gun, masking tape and a screwdriver while it’s still light.

Since I didn’t have a template, I covered the border with tape to give a rough outline as a base for replacing the letters.

After a bit of thumb rub-Roll on the remaining double-sided tape and clean off with degreaser, the letters are ready to fit.

It certainly cheered the front end up a bit and only 15 – 20 min job fit. If only the double-sided tape would not have taken so long, lol.

I’m not sure how long it will last, because the quality of the second tape doesn’t inspire much, but we’ll see.

I came close to arranging the letters to read ‘RAGE ROVER’ or ‘ANGER OVER’ just to see if Mrs Stiff would notice but then I thought more than that. I prefer my testicles to be where they are now.

It won’t be a problem because I’ve removed everything again. I went out to see how well they’d stuck and I could feel some movement. (It’s really old tape I’ve had in my garage for years and it’s a bit wide and thick tbh)

This is an old thread, you may not receive a response, and may revive the old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.I ordered Black Range Rover Lettering. I finally had time to install it on Fuji White Dynamic with black trim. The installation is easy. The kit comes with a template for the new letters, and a plastic tool to help in removing the original letters. First I put the template over the letters there, and marked where the template goes with blue painter’s tape. Then remove the template and use the inventory tool to remove the old letters. Removing old letters is simple. Clean the area well if there are new letters, and wipe it with isopropyl alcohol. Align the template with the tape marks, and glue the template in place. Post a new letter. The hardest part of this whole project is getting the adhesive tape backing for the letters. Took me about 1 and a half hours. I think it looks better.
