For more than twenty years, Andrew Peterson has been in the business of quietly changing lives in four-minute increments. In the city of Nashville, where music is an industry in the same way that fast food, generic greeting cards and bumper stickers are industries, Peterson has forged his own path, rejecting the artistic commitments that often they come with the pursuit of album sales and radio singles and instead create a long line of songs that hurt grief, joy, and integrity, and that are, after all, part of a conversation real, continuous and human. In 2019, Andrew celebrated the 20th anniversary of his Behold the Lamb of God project with an anniversary tour and the recording of a new album.
Andrew Peterson Songs 2022
Andrew and his wife, Jamie, have been married for 24 years and have three children, Aedan, Asher and Skye. In his spare time, Andrew keeps bees, builds dry stone walls, gardens, draws and sleeps.
Led by songwriters Isaac Horn and Lincoln Mick, and supported by Erik Coveney on bass and Bailey Warren on violin, The Arcadian Wild confidently inhabits and explores an intersection of genres, blending the traditional with the contemporary to create a unique acoustic sound . which is both unified and diverse. With roots in formal vocal music and influences from progressive bluegrass and folk, The Arcadian Wild offers songs of invitation; it calls to come and see, to find refuge and rest, or to travel and wonder. Throughout 2020, The Arcadian Wild released Principium, a four-movement song cycle exploring human relationship, flourishing, degradation and redemption, culminating in the release of the Principium EP in February 2021, which debut at #3 on the Billboard Bluegrass. In October 2019, Peterson published his first non-fiction book, Adorning the Dark: Thoughts on Community, Calling, and the Mystery of Making, through B&H Publishers. Through stories from his own journey, Andrew shows how these principles are useful not only for writers and artists, but for anyone interested in imitating the way the Creator interacts with His creation. This book is both a memoir of Andrew’s journey and a handbook for artists, written in the hope that his story will provide encouragement to others stumbling in search of a calling to adorn the darkness with the light of Christ
In 2008, driven by a desire to cultivate a strong Christian arts community, Andrew founded a ministry called The Rabbit Room, which has resulted in an annual conference, countless concerts and symposia, and Rabbit Room Press, which has published thirty books to date .
