Watch out for the many ties in this piece! Ties simply mean notes that are “tied together” for all the notes that are tied are held. There are many moments in this song where you hold the notes and “save them for later”.

Also watch out for key changes throughout the note! For example, in the beginning, we use the triple key for the right and left hand. This piece starts very high, so it’s much easier to read everything in the treble clef.
However, we return to the bass clef in measure 13. In the last two bars it all comes back to the treble clef!

There aren’t pedals everywhere though, because the ties kind of mimic what a pedal does by holding those chords. However, I personally pedal during the song 🤭! I just think it looks so beautiful 💖
📜🎹 Sting of history! “Clair de Lune” is the third suite of piano pieces (Suite Bergamasque). Although “Claire de Lune” is famous for being an “impressionist” piece, Debussy did not like the impressionist label. He was actually inspired by French Baroque music of the 17th and 18th centuries.
