Joy Letters Hobby Lobby – Have you already decorated for the New Year? Due to a busy schedule, including traveling to a convention with my husband, I decided to decorate earlier this year. I had everything before Thanksgiving.

While I have my favorites that I use every year, I love making new Christmas ornaments to update each year. This oversized farm joy ornament is super fun and easy to make.

I got my wood supplies from Michael’s as well as the gray chalk paint and got the white chalk paint from Hobby Lobby. The wood frame is 9″ and the letters are 5-1/2″ tall.

I painted the wood frame with 2 coats of white paint, allowing it to dry completely between coats. After the 2nd coat was dry, I lightly dry-brushed gray over the white. I painted the letters with 2 coats of gray paint and dry brushed each letter with white paint.

I glued the “J” and “Y” to the wooden frame using E6000 glue. I then glued the “O” onto the other 2 letters. I added some red sequins to add a little color and sparkle. Then I attached a piece of string to the back for a hanger.

This would make a great teacher or neighbor gift. You can easily cook several in just a few hours. And with sales or coupons, they make very cheap gifts.
