Ketty Lester Love Letters – Ketty Lester was born Revoyda Frierson in Hope, Arkansas on August 16, 1934. She studied music at San Francisco State College before becoming a professional singer. Her gospel-influenced singing voice attracted attention, and she played clubs, toured Europe, worked on a revue headlined by Cab Calloway, and landed a record deal.

Almost immediately, he scored a hit with Love Letters, which in 1962 reached the top five in the US and UK charts. Lester’s vocal style, which touched on the similar origins of early R&B and Soul, appealed to fans of all these forms.
