Screwtape Letters Andy Serkis
Screwtape Letters Andy Serkis – C.S. Lewis reimagines hell as a monstrous bureaucracy. With spiritual insight and wry wit, Lewis argues that the demons at work in the vast enterprise have horribly recognizable human characteristics: competition, greed, and totalitarian punishments. Avoiding their own painful torture and wanting to dominate is what drives demons to torture their “patients”.
Are preserved in this full dramatization, as is the original setting of World War II London. The story is led by the elder demon Screwtape, brilliantly played by award-winning actor Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings’ Gollum), who shares correspondence with his apprentice demon Wormwood. All 31 letters lead to dramatic scenes that take place in Hell or in the real world with humans—the “patient,” as the demons say, along with his friends and family. All content borrowed from Screwtape.com for promotional purposes only. The cast and crew of Screwtape did an amazing job of taking the already amazing C.S. Lewis’s words and put a nice chocolate candy in his ear. Although the content is often “Up”, this is where C.S. speaks. Lewis, which is what makes his work so compelling. C. S. Lewis’ ability to articulate such interesting yet philosophical concepts makes him a true master and spiritual giant of our time.
Clive Staples Lewis The dramatization itself is so deep in actor/actress talent, as well as deep layers of sound effects and opulence, that the moment you sit down in a chair or car, you’re instantly transported to hell…or, well, England. However, the sound effects are so detailed that you will quickly get lost in the demonic world. It really is a glimpse into their world and I have no doubt that if the devil had any real power at all, this drama would never have come to light.
The Screwtape Letters first appeared in London’s Guardian newspaper during the dark days of World War II. in 1942 The Letters were published in book form in England – dedicated to Lewis’s friend J.R.R. Tolkien. The following year, the book appeared in America and received great acclaim.

In his long-running masterpiece, C.S. Lewis reimagines Hell as a monstrous bureaucracy. With spiritual insight and a shrewd mind, Radio Theater’s The Screwtape Letters is carried by an elder demon, Screwtape (Andy Serkis), sharing correspondence with his apprentice Wormwood. The younger ghost’s task is to terrorize a man in London, during the tumultuous era of World War II.
The letters lead to dramatic scenes that take place in Hell or in the real world with people – “patients” as the demons say. Often devilishly humorous as the story explores the mature themes of sin and temptation, Radio Theatre’s The Screwtape Letters ultimately affirms the power of salvation and God’s love.
Some amazing work here… Would have been fun to be a part of… You can see and hear the passion.
