Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Viola Notes Letters
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Viola Notes Letters – These scales are arranged in an “add note” style to help students slow down and isolate intervals, which will lead to improved intonation. The scale is broken down into 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 notes so that the musician hears the tones in context. Having a worksheet keeps the student organized by giving them a clear diagram of what to follow and how to practice.
If you have a student who is struggling with understanding and/or performing down and up bows, these studies will help support you. To view and purchase all 7 beginner violin bowing studies click HERE.

Your feedback helps me improve and offer better resources. When One Octave Scale and Arpeggio (for VIOLIN) was published, I was contacted by several musicians requesting a viola version of this resource. I thought this was a fantastic idea and I’m happy to share that this is now available for all the amazing alto clef players out there!
How To Write Sheet Music: 15 Steps (with Pictures)
Download the free sample below and visit the store to see what makes One Octave Scales and Arpeggios (for VIOLA) a special resource for beginning – intermediate viola players.
Sometimes it helps to see things up close to better understand the details. If you are interested in simpler scales in LARGE print format, the one-octave A, D & G major scales are available in the LARGE Print Music for Beginning Violin collection.
This baroque duet is fantastic (and can work on instruments other than the violin). It has been one of my favorites for decades and I hope it will make you smile :).
I have recently revised many collections of Music for Young Violinists. I added some bonus duets to Let’s Fiddle!!! for Beginners Violin. This is one of the bonus duets, click here to see the whole collection.

I learned this standard harmony part by ear at Suzuki Summer Institutes as a child. It’s a favorite of many, and I’ve included a basic version here to share. For a slow-motion practice version that you can play and/or learn by ear, visit myYouTubevideo.
There’s some new music here on M4YV and to celebrate the first collection of violas (yes, you read that right – VIOLA) I’ve added this all-time favorite tune here on the FREEBIES page to literally “spread the joy.” Ode to Joy is now featured in 3 different M4YV collections:
Astrathspey is a type of Scottish dance tune in 4/4 time. It is similar to the hornpipe, but slower and more dignified. This is an eclectic and moody work ripe for creative interpretation.
Silent Night Sheet Music For Violin
Every once in a blue moon I turn on the computer that sits in a drawer and is so old and broken that it doesn’t do much, but it serves as a network for my old ideas. I found one, played around with it and the FREEBIES page now has a new Jig called Jig for Fun (if you have a better idea for a name, let me know).
This new FREE is really fun, easy to play, easy to remember and perfect for beginners to intermediate. All bows are just suggestions, so play around to find what works best for your style.
I was recently revising my holiday and Christmas music collection and was hesitant to include this trio arrangement for First Noel. I like this arrangement because of the range expressed in the top line and the slightly modern interpretation of the harmony. I’ve decided to keep it and offer it here and get your feedback – feel free to let me know how this works for you (here’s my email). A melody-only version is available in the Holiday Joy! collection. To learn more about holiday cheer! sheet music collection, click here.
I love this piece and forgot to put this tune-only version in the recently revised Holiday Joy! music collection. My mistake is your gain as it is now offered here for everyone on the FREEBIES page.

Violin Note Reading For Beginners
This is a great handout to print out for your students to help them prepare for their audition. If you are looking for more sight-reading materials, there are 9 progressive sight-reading exercises included in the Teacher’s Manual.
Sometimes all it takes to freshen up your exercise routine is a new exercise chart. You can use them to support the goals and mark them with pen/pencil/paint/marker or use a sticker. For more workout charts, scroll down.
Print them and cut them into 6 smaller pieces. Each small chart can be used to count repetitions in home practice. My favorite thing is to use stack tags (5 per box) and you get to 100. For extra fun, use smileys, stars, notes, or cute hearts in the boxes. Happy training!

John Kendall is the man responsible for bringing the Suzuki philosophy from Japan to America. He was a man of great vision and a huge, warm heart. I felt very fortunate to be his neighbor when I lived back east. He would give me free adult lessons and make me his famous peanut butter and alfalfa sprout sandwiches served on his wives’ beautiful handmade plates. He taught me so much that years later I still take it and integrate his lessons. John was so comprehensive and organized in his approach that he gave anyone the impression that they could master playing the violin. This shift sheet will give your students such a solid foundation when practicing shifts that they will be empowered in the process.
I recently realized that I transcribed this into the wrong time signature and it should be in 6/8, not 3/4. I will fix it as soon as I can. Thanks, Heather
My students love to play music from Music for 4 Violins Collection (previously titled I Came to Play) and Hypnotics
