Sacred Heart Mission
Sacred Heart University has continuous admissions, but also offers an “early decision” option for freshmen, which is December 1st. The “Early Action” option is for students who want to know their admission decision earlier than other students, without the obligation to enroll. The deadline for “Early Action” is December 15.

I chose SHU primarily because of its personalized, intimate atmosphere. I wanted to be recognized as an individual, not just a number on a professor’s note. Sacred Heart University in Fairfield may suspend in-person classes if the school’s COVID-19 cases do not slow, President John J. Petillo said. a video message in which they say that “a significant part” of them are not taking the epidemic seriously.

Sacred Heart has struggled with cases of COVID-19 throughout the semester, at one point asking students in Bridgeport to stay off campus and attend classes remotely until further notice.
In Monday’s message, Petillo urged students to wear masks and maintain social distance from anyone they don’t live with. He instructed on-campus students to stay on campus and off-campus students to stay at home if possible.

Asked Tuesday if Sacred Heart was seriously considering sending students home, spokeswoman Deb Noack said administrators are “evaluating our numbers daily.”
“The vast majority of our students want to be on the ground. We know this because they are on the ground,” Noach said. “However, as Dr. Petillo said in his video yesterday, the numbers are alarming and we need to turn it around.”
Despite Petillo’s warning of a possible campus closure, Sacred Heart announced Tuesday that it will lift Merton Hall dorm quarantine for students who test negative for COVID-19. The dormitory had been in quarantine since the weekend.
So far, no colleges or universities in Connecticut have been forced to close for the semester due to COVID-19.

Both UConn and the University of Hartford have seen an increase in the number of coronavirus cases in recent days, albeit to a lesser extent, as college campuses remain significant sources of the virus’ spread.
After adding the campus cases Monday and two more Tuesday, UConn has 60 students in isolation at the school’s Storrs campus, up from 33 last Thursday.
