Driver’s License By Olivia Rodrigo
“Driver’s License” by Olivia Rodrigo is a great song this summer. This song is EPIC, and you might be surprised to know that it’s actually live. All you need to learn are a few basic chords and you’re good to go!
We have also provided full sheet music for those who want to play something close to the original.
And remember, just because a song is live doesn’t mean it will be boring to play. Olivia Rodrigo adds so much drama to her performance and I encourage you to be dramatic too!
For the verse, you only need to know three chords: B Flat Major, G Minor, and E Flat Major. Play these with your left hand. At the same time, in your right hand, play a steady B series full of one octave.

We use a slightly different chord shape than the E Flat Major chord in this song. Instead of a triad, try playing a power chord shape. This is the root (Eb), the fifth (Bb), and another root note (Eb).
If this shape is too challenging, it’s perfectly fine to play a regular E Flat Major triad (Eb-G-Bb) or a minor power chord that’s a fifth (Eb-Bb).
We’ve written the specifics of the chorus in the higher octave to make it easier to read. You can play them in this octave or play them an octave lower to sound closer to the original.
For beginners still learning how to read notes, there’s no shame in writing in note names if that helps 🙂
Tum Hi Aana
As always, don’t be afraid to slow down the tempo while you practice. Then gradually add to the top.
If you want to play chords instead of individual notes, or want to create something unique over a chord, here are some chord notes:
The bridge is full of pop mood. We play the chords in our right hand that you know by now: Gm, Ebmaj7, Bb, F, Gm etc. On the left hand, we will play a dotted rhythm and a bass note.
Coordinating the right and left hand rhythms can be a bit trickier, so here’s the song as written:
Egde Of Great
Get big with trends! The chorus in the right hand is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and you can make it more interesting by describing it with dynamics. Try alternating some crescendos and decrescendos to round out the riff.
If the octave is different for you, play five. Absolutely no shame. Some of us have small hands. That being said, getting comfortable playing the octopus is an important skill. Here are some useful tips on how to master the piano for little hands.
