I love this so much! My order arrived quickly, the viewer was in perfect condition, and the package had cute extras and notes inside! Nina also messaged me as soon as my order was placed to let me know when she was going to ship it. I definitely recommend shopping here! 🙂
I buy something here at my own risk. If you suspect your package is missing, the store owner assured me there is nothing he can do. There was an error in the delivery and I sorted it myself. The content of the item is as described. However, I will say that so many shops are run with such empathy that I would be remiss if I didn’t explain how much of my problem was eliminated. If the item is really lost he won’t give me a refund or replacement due to the fact that his stance is that it’s not a post office issue. Update: After posting this review, the seller messaged me and said “your review means nothing to me.” I’m not important or an influencer but my experience is still important.

In the 19th century, they called it “colored hearing” – letters and words, when spoken, take on mental weight and shine with color in the mind’s eye. . For Miss C., who was interviewed in 1892, “n” was nut-brown, “w” a pinkish heliotrope, and her own initial, “c” a vivid lemon yellow, “the brightest color of all”.
Miss C. has no explanation for her peculiarity. In fact, until he was approached by a student of Wellesley College psychology professor Mary Calkins, he hadn’t thought it was a hallmark. She just thinks everybody sees letters in color. There is a theory at the time that colored hearing may be the result of associations learned in childhood. Maybe Miss C. had once played with wooden blocks that had a bright yellow “C” painted on them. But the summary of his case, published in 1893 paper in The American Journal of Psychology, dismissed this idea; not all of Miss C.’s colors are aligned with the toy blocks.
Psychologists are still studying “colored hearing”. They call it synesthesia, and it’s expanded to include more than just the colors associated with hearing letters spoken aloud. Associations between letters and colors are the most common form of synesthesia, but you can also get associations between numbers and colors, sounds and smells, and even swimming styles and colors.

In 2012, Nathan Witthoft, then a Ph.D. student in psychology at MIT, put a group of synesthetes through a series of color-matching tests. During the study, he noticed something strange. “For this one person, every sixth letter is the same color,” he said. “When I asked them why, they said they learned from this game” — specifically, from the plastic letters included in the Fisher-Price School Desk playset.
Today, those plastic letters are at the center of scientific debate about what synesthesia is and how it started. For more than a century scientists have asked how synesthetes’ brains make connections between colors and letters. Now, it turns out that question could have implications for everything—how we learn and how we remember.
The School Days Desk came out in 1972. This is one of the first projects of the game designer Victor Reiling worked on Fisher-Price. Just a few years earlier, Reiling had been the captain of a Navy ship stationed off the coast of Vietnam.
At first, he envisioned a toy version of a highway billboard. But instead of a playtime paean to midcentury consumer culture, Reiling’s idea ended up being school-themed. The result is a portable box, like a small suitcase, with a magnetic chalkboard on the outside. It comes with 16 rectangular pieces of heavy cardboard, printed with pictures and cut out to leave holes in which simple words are spelled out – “WALK” and a picture of a boy in water, for example. Children can pull colorful alphabet magnets off the School Day Table and match them to match
