Word of the Day: STAFFA (24D: Scottish island, home to the Fingal Caves) – Staffa (Scottish Gaelic: Stafa, pronounced [ˈs̪t̪afa] from The Old Norsefor stave or pillar island) is an island of Inner Hebridesin Argyll and Bute. Scotland. The Vikings named this columnarbasaltremed them from their house, which was built of wood placed vertically. Staffa is located about 10 km (6 miles) west of Mull Island. Oh, the Boston accent theme. I think they have to get it back every 5 or 10 years or so often because someone will not see the version yet. The subject of pronunciation is always well meaningful because the way people pronounce and even hear words varies widely from region to region. Nothing about this strange set of answers feels particularly “Boston” for me. This is probably why I do not know what the subject is supposed to be until more than 1/3 of the way into the puzzle. I do not know what DOC COMEDY has to do. Both “doc” and “comedy” are movie related … I really think that should be the “dot com” pun continued there, but “C” (from TECH) will not be confused so … DOC comedy ? OK. Took me to the end of MISSING THE MOCK to present a basic premise (Didn’t you miss the word “mock”? But that’s another story). However, most of my reactions are “see it” and “these really do not sound Boston-y at all”. A simple -ARK to -OCK switch does not give me anything or just gives me hints about what will happen in the Bostonian mouth (hypothesis). The vowel is still incorrect. Accents are not simple. However, I am warm to the whole idea, although I like the power “If you are going to cause chaos” of PICK A COD, ANY COD. When in doubt, throw the fish away.
Aries Puzzles: About
I have studied abroad in Scotland and have been there a few times, but I have never heard of STAFFA. My wife is from New Zealand, with a maple tree as its national symbol, and I have never heard of FERNERY. Both of these facts make the STAFFA / FERNERY passage … interesting. Luckily I can conclude that FERNERY because “ferns” are plants and plants are what you see in the “botanical garden” tada. Anyway, kind of awful cross for any day left Wednesday. I get a bad feeling off the grid as soon as it opens with ZITI / ZOD. Not that I think the cross – it’s great. But … my thought was, “Oh no, someone would be addicted to fake letters and Scrabble-f *** ing would be unbearable.” And no Qs or Js, so Scrabble-f *** ing is not a problem, but the filling is a bit UGH. ONKP is a real warning sign (very old Scotch). IPOS IPSO, MORRIE NONCOM, ABES OCHRE, UAE YAYS (plural?) … really the whole SE corner just sheds with gun filling. No idea why you go with LEW / WILE than say LET / TILE. Is “W” important for you ?? You really narrow down your clue options with “W”. You also get options that take you out of the ordinary. SINGLE WILE? One of the two or three famous LEWs ever (or in the case of LEW Archer “had”)? LET / TILE may seem “boring” but it’s more beautiful and allows for more clues: straight, funny, hard, easy. LEW / WILE just backs you into a nasty corner. As I said, I do not understand.
