Playing one hard word to start the numbers doesn’t result in green or yellow. It leaves the player asking “So what? What word do I play next?”. Playing the first two words allows you to play 10 unique letters, resulting in more chances to get green and yellow right away.
In general, it works: a good word that produces yellow 3 or more half of the time, and at least green 62% of the time.
