You’ll also need some linking cubes or other game piece manipulations for this sight word game. This activity also comes with a die that the students will use to play the game.
Set up the game board, die, and pass 10 linking cubes per player. The first student rolls the die and reads the word it lands on. Then, they find the word on the game board and place one of their cubes on it.
The next player rolls the die, reads the word, and places a linking cube on the word. You can bump it off if the other player already has a cube there. You can stack another on top and freeze the place if you already have a cube there. A space with 2 cubes cannot be bumped! The first player to run out of cubes wins!
We also use the game board for practicing sight words. It makes learning them much more fun than using traditional memorization tools. Games are a great way to encourage learning in a different format!

Josh Wardle, a programmer who previously designed the social experiments site and the button for Reddit, invented Wardle, a web-based word game released in October 2021. Players have six chances to guess a five-letter word; Feedback is provided in the form of colored tiles for each guess, indicating which letters are in the correct position and which are in other positions of the answer word. The mechanics are similar to those found in games like Mastermind, with the exception that Wordle specifies which letters in each guess are correct. Each day has a specific answer word that is the same for everyone. After tentatively dipping its toes into the red-hot gravel waters last year with the Lukeware Domaine Gravel, Trek is now anything but tentative with the new Checkpoint family. The new carbon fiber and aluminum frames feature dedicated geometries, a host of gravel-specific features and smart spec across the board.
Much of the US it. Staff have already spent the last couple of weeks on the new checkpoint, and there’s no point in beating around the bush: if gravel is your gig, this thing is not only good, but also seriously good fun.
It took the bike industry a few years to settle on a widely accepted definition of what a gravel-specific bike actually is, and admittedly, the differences are subtle. But there are genuine distinctions, and the checkpoint isn’t just a Domane endurance bike or Boone/Crockett cyclocross racer wearing different clothes. Indeed, there is room between the shades of gray, and the checkpoint seems to color it nicely.

Frame geometry is closest to that of Trek’s Boone/Crockett cyclocross cousins, with almost unchanged wheelbase and reach, the same chainstay length, and nearly identical stock heights and head tube angles across the size range. Stability on loose surfaces is often a highly desirable trait for gravel bikes, however, so Trek has dropped the bottom bracket an extra 8-9mm relative to the Boone, depending on size. That may not sound like much on paper, but geometry geeks will confirm that it’s a substantial difference.
Although each checkpoint will officially clear tires up to 45mm-wide, stock bikes are fitted with 35mm-wide rubber, which Trek says strikes a better balance between off-road capability and on-road speed.
As mentioned, the wheelbase and chainstay lengths are roughly the same as the built-for-cyclocross-racing Boone, and the nearly identical stack and reach offers a similarly aggressive fit. But Trek has equipped each Checkpoint front-end with more fork rake—and, subsequently, less trail—that actually make the bikes more responsive to steering input, not less. Trek’s philosophy here is that while the Boone is meant to be ridden primarily off-road, the Checkpoint is designed for a wide range of applications, and the combination ofa nimbler front-end and lower center of gravity will make for
