Love Letters Of Abelard And Lily
Love Letters Of Abelard And Lily – Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with “Paperbacks and Frybread Company” bookstore. In any way. This is my honest review after purchasing from their store.
Being a content creator or small business owner can be really hard at times. What I do now is considered “content creation”. Let me tell you, working literally is soul crushing

Like this dumb picture I created for the movie “Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 3” in a post that gets 3+ views. But you keep at it because you feel you have something amazing and worth sharing.

Earlier in July 2022, a small online bookstore called “Paperbacks and Frybread Co.” Had a book fair in person and no one went. I can only imagine how much work the owner Dominique put into organizing this event and I think many of us can relate to the feeling of throwing an event and no one shows up. Sadly, I live in the Bay Area and the book fair is in North Carolina, so I couldn’t make it. Otherwise, it sounded pretty cool. I miss my scholastic bookfair days and am a little thirsty to recapture that magic from my youth.
(Also, if you’re on the fence, consider this your cue to go to a party or event hosted by a friend or acquaintance, if it’s safe from a public health perspective.)
A few days later, I was wasting time on TikTok when I saw the following video by user @torybae promoting her friend’s business. She describes the business as an online boutique specializing in black, indigenous, and other authors of color, and the business itself is owned by an indigenous woman and her family.

This video struck a chord with me for many reasons. First of all, one of my goals as a writer and communicator is to try to uplift and support women and people of color. I want to support them in any way I can. I’m not an expert on the best way to do this, but I’m committed to learning and trying what I can to be a better ally.
Another reason this Tiktok resonated with me is that I’m lucky enough to have a good group of friends who support me and promote my content, even when I feel like what I’m writing is pointless. I love sharing interesting movies, books and experiences with people, but it doesn’t always reach my intended audience. I have friends who share my content, read my very long blog, and comment positively on my work. It feels amazing and having that support means the world to me. So, if you’re the type to promote their friends’ work, please know that you’re appreciated.
After that Tiktok experience, I went to the Paperbacks and Frybread website and did some searching. I liked that the website was well organized and even had a page dedicated to selling banned books. Many of the books in the store were unfamiliar to me, but luckily, I didn’t have to decide. Paperbacks and Frybread have a “pick your magic book boxes” option, and I chose the $20 Amethyst box. Magic Book Boxes is a surprise book purchase where you describe what kind of books you like and the owner of the store, Dominique, makes a selection for you based on your descriptions! I thought this was a good option and wanted to give it a shot. The last time I bought a mystery book, it ended up being the first in the “Saga” series, so I’ve been lucky with mystery purchases. I also thought the price for a book curation was reasonable, so I went for it (Book Box has a no return policy, but I’m okay with that).

In addition to the amethyst box, I also chose a sticker because I decided that’s my personality now. My total purchase came to under $28 with shipping. On the checkout page, I included the following request for my Amethyst Book Box:
“For my box, I like either a romance or something fun and scary! Mythology is also something I adore. My favorite stories include ‘The Gargoyle,’ ‘Persuasion’ and ‘The Myth of Eros and Psyche’.
My package arrived within a week of my initial order, which surprised me because I’m a total eBay addict and used to waiting months for my stuff to arrive. I tried to do an unboxing video but couldn’t watch the video so I took photos and wrote this blog post about it.
The books in my Amethyst box, the stickers and bookmarks I ordered, a little bag with more stickers and a cute little amethyst, and a handwritten note describing my books! (The note addresses my real name, Alexandra, because my mother did not conceive me for nine months to name me “Miss Posabule” or “Hagfish.”)

The books I got were “The Love Letters of Abelard and Lily” by Laura Creedle and “Beyond the Black Door” by A.M. Strickland. I’m not familiar with these authors, so I did some research. Laura Creedle is a neurodivergent writer living in Texas and an A.M. Strickland is a Y.A. Writer living in Alaska. My favorite genres include “romance,” “science-fiction,” and “spooky books with kids who face scary situations but have a happy ending,” so I’m very happy with my books!
I haven’t read these books yet and don’t know if I’ll like them, but I’m excited to read them! When I do, I’ll review them on my Goodreads if you’re interested in my opinion. I especially appreciate that these books are curated based on my interests. I like a wide range of books which may contribute to my satisfaction as a buyer, but I can tell that real care has gone into this order.
Buying from a small business can be expensive and difficult for some people. Not everyone can “take a risk” and try something new and uncertain. I’m glad I did, and although I’ll continue to hunt e-bay and the library for most of my treasures, I plan to buy again from paperbacks and the Frybread Company. I thought the prices were very reasonable and I’m happy with what I got. .
The store sells some books I’m familiar with and recommend, including Tania Tagak’s “Split Tooth” (a total journey and definitely worth listening to as an audiobook) and Robin Wall Kimmerer’s “Braiding Sweetgrass” (absolutely spell-binding). I hope the store’s selection continues to expand, especially the mythology and folklore options. I look forward to seeing how this bookshop grows and wish them success. The store is gaining quite a bit of popularity online so I’m really happy for them! First, it’s an #onvoice novel about ADHD (like the author) Lily and her lover Abelard. Autism/Asperger Spectrum. Lily is your typical teenager, she loses things, can’t remember things, and her mouth moves as fast as her brain. She is forced to kiss Abelard when they get into trouble with each other in the office one day after accidentally breaking a wall.
A To Z Of Love Quotes
Lily’s ADHD is spot on. On. My fiancee has ADHD and I am a teacher who has to deal with problems in my students like Lily’s. Besides having ADHD, I have seen the consequences of ADHD up close and personal in many settings. For my students, whether or not they take medication is the difference between an A+ and an F. For my fiance, it’s the difference between going to work and avoiding it. ADHD is mostly talked about in teenagers and children and this book really makes us think about Lily’s future.
I got on Goodreads at 2 AM after finishing this book to rate it, and noticed all the subpar reviews following the ending of the novel, which discouraged me because I thought the ending was somewhat perfect.
Here’s my take…it’s getting a bit spoilery, so if you want to read this book, come back and read the rest of my review later.
And so at last. A lot of people on Goodreads said it felt like Lily had to change to accept herself at the end, and I don’t think that’s what the author intended in this book. In the novel, Lily is offered a surgery that can reduce her ADHD so she can function a little better and have a better shot at college and a brighter future. Her parents, friends and boyfriend all have their own opinions and Lily goes around in circles because she wants everyone to be happy,
