Some words will share letters, so will need to match. Words can vary in length and complexity, as well as clues.

If you solve your puzzles only in Downs (as some professional solvers have done, especially early week puzzles), then you will have a perfect grid that never understands that have a trick, twist or thread of any kind. All the answers look good, and you have no reason to doubt any of your answers. In fact, your answer will be “correct”—which is considered correct by the computer. Then finally I realized oh, that’s just the answer Across has “heart problems” (a little breakfast table-worthy title for this puzzle…). After that, things got a little easier. I thought maybe something would be written, that there would be some pattern of changing hearts… but no. You just need to change the Horizontal “correct” answer to match the Down answer. Never mind the “wrong” answer in Across — your grid still looks great.
