Gawk At Crossword Clue 4 Letters
Gawk At Crossword Clue 4 Letters – Crosswords have been published in newspapers and other publications since 1873. They consist of a grid of squares where the player aims to write words both horizontally and vertically.
Next to the crossword there will be a series of questions or clues, which relate to the different rows or lines of boxes in the crossword. The player reads the question or clue and tries to find a word that answers the question with the same number of letters as there are boxes in the related crossword row or line.

Word of the Day: CHICKEN YAKITORI (56A: Grilled Japanese Dish with Skewers) — Yakitori (Japanese: 焼き鳥) (literally ‘grilled bird’) is a Japanese type of skewered porkor chicken. Its preparation consists of threading the meat with kushi(串), a type of skewer typically made of steel, bamboo or similar materials. Then they are grilled over charcoal. During or after cooking, the meat is usually seasoned with tare sauce or salt. The term is sometimes used informally for kushiyaki (grilled foods and skewers) in general. (wikipedia)
You have to do better than that. Random African countries? Because? Why these countries? Why is AFRICA sitting in this strange unrevealing place? Why the hell are you dragging EVERYTHING into it!? Phew. It’s like the JIM MORRISON stuff yesterday: what are you doing? And why does it work this Monday? It’s a Tuesday/Wednesday kind of thing. I feel like NYTXW is really desperate for good Monday puzzles, because they keep running on Mondays that aren’t Mondays, Mondays that end up harder than Tuesdays, and even some Wednesdays. Random African countries…across TOTO…not really feeling this one. Also, the TEAPOT in the first theme and the TO in the third theme are left to dry, they are not involved in any of the African country stuff. Also, this puzzle made me have to remember a figure from the Bush II administration, ick. Just because the last administration was somehow much worse doesn’t mean I’ll be happy to see those Bush II a-holes again. And we are still doing NIP ??? You know you can pull it off almost effortlessly, right? I mean, Anaïs NIN called, she wants to know why you never call anymore? Or, just rewrite that whole little section, in a million different ways, most of which don’t contain any words that can be used as racial slurs. OKAY? Try this here:
It’s so easy. You just have to worry. And when your idea of ”fun” filler is UBERIZE , well, we’re not going to get along very well (10D: Transform using mobile technology, as a market). What a horrible word (that I didn’t know existed until now). I liked the NAIL ART (5D: luxury work of a manicure). That’s all I liked. AFRICA (the continent, not the song) deserves better than this. And how, how in the world do you leave MANGO LASSI on the table????

So many things to slow down. The type of subject, for starters. And the same subjects, yes, I just needed lots and lots of help with the crosses. Well, not the first one, the one I could get off the trail, but I couldn’t remember if GONZALES was “Z” or “S” at the end, so that caused some doubt. Throwing a bone took a lot of work, as the track is hard on Saturday (43A: Appease, idiomatically). And confession: I’ve never heard of CHICKEN YAKITORI. Teriyaki, yes. Cacciatore, yes. But YAKITORI was not, from my position, Monday fare. Totally good answer, without questioning its legitimacy or validity. But that stopped me. I also couldn’t make sense of LAUGH from the clue (27D: Ha-ha) (a LAUGH is a…ha-ha?) and as for AGE , that clue was a puzzle, and I don’t really do them . (well, or happily) (40A: Number that never goes down). TWERKED had a “?” track that, again, just brought things to a screeching halt (41D: did you bring up the rear?). The worst wound, however, was entirely self-inflicted (these wounds are always the worst because the only one I have to call on is me): I had BAL- in 46D: Peninsula ___ of Southeast Europe (BALKAN), and I just put in the first six-letter European BAL answer that came to mind: BALTIC. Total disaster, especially since it went through YAKITORI, which, as we’ve established, I didn’t know. Phew. He also fumbled about the spelling of JIBED (as I always do) (G? J? G? J?), and GO BIG wasn’t exactly a slam dunk (29D: Pull out all the stops). So, in short: it’s not the right day of the week, it’s not a tight enough concept, EVERYTHING linked is colonialist violence… the end.
