Grimy Crossword Clue 5 Letters

Grimy Crossword Clue 5 Letters – Crossword puzzles have been published in newspapers and other publications since 1873. They consist of a grid of squares where the player aims to write words both horizontally and vertically.

Next to the crossword puzzle will be a series of questions or hints that relate to different rows or rows of boxes in the crossword puzzle. The player reads a question or clue and tries to find the word that answers the question in the same number of letters as in the box in the corresponding line or line of the crossword puzzle.

This is an old thread. It’s been done in one form or another about a billion times. I guess running Themers Down gives it…something. Some perspective. But not much of one thing. So the concept isn’t new, but if you’ve never seen it before, it might have some charm. But to be honest, this puzzle didn’t confuse me as much as usual, because I solved it completely and in a fun way: namely via Zoom with my daughter Ella. I made a video of the whole experience, which you can watch here now if you want:

[when I say in the video that there is no apparent pattern to the placement of the “fingers”, I mean “outside of the very obvious placement of the fingers in the correct order”, in case that’s somehow unclear]

The only interesting thing for me puzzle-wise was trying to figure out what the theme answers would be. Once we got the MIDDLE (from the crosses) and then the INDEX filled in (Ella got the BODY MASS INDEX very quickly) I knew right away that we were going to be looking at the hand, so I just went ahead and filled in the circled squares. Not even looking at the hints for those answers. It was a bad strategy, as you can see by watching the video, because we both just assumed that the last theme would start with PINKIE. If I had looked at the *hint* before I wrote anything, I might have known right away that the answer was LITTLE EVA (a name I know mostly from crossword puzzles), but since I boldly wrote on PINKIE, at the time I actually looked at this clue, I had no idea who the artist of “The Loco-Motion” could be. Pinkie Lee sounded like someone. But I’m sure I was thinking about PEGGY LEE. Annnnnyway, if you watch the video of us solving the puzzle, you’ll actually hear the moment we realize it’s TINY, not PINKY—the unrehearsed simultaneous moans are audible. Yes, it’s your PINKEY, but ugh, come on, it’s PINKY. Ella suggested that it’s more commonly spelled PINKY, and that may be true, but still, LITTLE wasn’t a winner with either of us. This was the lowest point of the decision.

No other scores were very low. Neither of us liked SHIRT as an answer to [Jersey], mainly because “Jersey” has so many other meanings that overshadow the meaning of SHIRT. I can’t recall a single instance where I’ve swapped “jersey” for a SHIRT. Maybe, maybe, maybe, speaking of a baseball jersey??? I don’t know. It seemed off. Otherwise, the pour seemed pretty typical. Not great (ITGO ?), but no worse than your average NYTXW. I’ve never done puzzles with my daughter, or watched her do puzzles, and I was amazed at how quickly she got some of the answers (she’s clearly developing her puzzle muscles) and how much certain points remain a complete mystery to me for her (see Kim NOVAK, for example). She had also never heard of the term D.O.A. , and since that initialism crosses EGAL (which she also didn’t know about), she could have been derailed by that intersection if we hadn’t decided together. She also didn’t get OWNS and LIT nearly as quickly as I thought she should, considering she’s still a teen card member (a few more months) and I figured it was just out of her lexicon. Of course, she knew both terms – she just didn’t pick them up as quickly as the old man she was solving with.

I hope you enjoy something here. I think I should decide all Tuesdays with people I like. Maybe on Sundays. Having an entertaining companion really makes solving obscure puzzles a breeze. THEME: “Why? Well, why not?”—the real theme is expressed by the answer WISE UP TO (115A: Realize … or the homophonic description of the shifts of the four letters in this grid). The idea is that the “Y’s” move “up” by “two” rows, four different times. So the answer that should have “Y” loses the “Y” because that “Y” (theoretically) jumped two lines up to the answer that *shouldn’t* have “Y” but now does . So you get phrases that get silly by adding or subtracting “Y”, depending on:
