And Dance of Fire and Ice is one of those games that looks simple but is so fiendishly challenging that it really knocks you back. It’s a game where you can see everything it has to offer in a few hours, but it’s a game that if it gets you, you’ll want to come back to it again and again. I’ve played many rhythm games over the years and this is one of the weirdest ones I’ve come across.

A Dance of Fire and Ice doesn’t really have a story, more of a premise. There are two planets and they dance across the universe. One of the planets is red (which is fire) and the other planet is blue (which is clearly ice) and I think you could interpret it in different ways as some kind of love story.
The spacebar is something we all take for granted these days, but in A Dance of Fire and Ice, the spacebar is all you have to worry about. The planets will rotate around each other and everything is done using just the spacebar. You have to squeeze it to the beat and you probably think you’ve played rhythm games before and know the deal. However, the timing required in this game is so precise that it is one of the most challenging games of this style that I have ever played!
I’d say you can complete all the levels that A Dance of Fire and Ice has for you in a few hours. It’s definitely a game that’s short and sweet. However, you will want to keep coming back to it and trying to improve and improve. There are various modifiers you can add to make things more interesting. Of course, it’s the amazing soundtrack that ties it all together and keeps you playing. What I like about the soundtrack in the game is that it’s so varied, it just has one style and I think it really keeps you on your toes when it comes to getting used to the time aspect of the game.
I can see why so many people have become addicted to A Dance of Fire and Ice. I played the hell out of it myself for about a week straight! However, I also understand why some people might find the game frustrating rather than fun. It takes a lot of patience and practice to get good at this game. Also, as I enjoyed my time with it, I got to the point where I had my fill and that was it. While I’m sure some die-hards will stick with it for a long time, I found that once I had my fill, I didn’t want to go back to the game.
