Words That Have Aud In Them 5 Letters
The company that makes some of the world’s most iconic board games, including Scrabble, Monopoly, and Clue is developing a new one based on Wordle, the obsessively popular digital word guessing game.

Hasbro Inc. and The New York Times — which acquired Wordle earlier this year — announced Thursday that Wordle: The Party Game will be available for purchase in North America in October, with pre-orders already accepted.
“Since Wordle burst onto the scene, it has undoubtedly been a staple in the social and pop culture vocabulary,” said Adam Biehl, Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based Hasbro’s general manager of gaming in a statement. “We are more than thrilled to work with New York Times Games to bring our gaming worlds together and extend Wordle in new ways.”
In the free online version, players get six attempts to guess a five-letter word, with only the previous clue providing clues.
The appeal is its simple play. Begin by entering a word of five letters. If a square turns green, it is the right letter in the right place. If it turns yellow, the letter in the word is in the wrong place. Gray boxes mean that the letters are not in that day’s word.

The board game gives players the opportunity to play against others, and play as much as they want.
There are also several game options, including classic, fast, timed or teams, Hasbro and New York Times Games said.
Wordle was created by Josh Wardle, a Brooklyn software engineer. He originally made it for his partner, but released it to the public in October. On November 1, only 90 people had played it. Within two months, this number grew to 300,000 as the addiction phenomenon spread rapidly on social media.
New York Times Games announced in January that it had acquired the game for an undisclosed price, which it described as “low seven figures,” and it now has millions of players a day.

Anyone familiar with the game Mastermind, which involves the use of colored pegs, will be immediately familiar with the premise of Wordle.
The aim of the game is to guess the secret word in six attempts, using a series of clues to figure it out.
For now, you can play Wordle on the Power Language website. (although its recent acquisition of the New York Times has fans worried that this may change in the future).
Only one puzzle is released each day, so you’ll need to check the website again the next day to continue playing.

Wordle’s new owners the New York Times developed a bot that found that ‘crane’ was the most effective opening word, but they also said that “the perfect opening word for a computer is not necessarily the perfect opening word for you”.

That being said, there are still a number of words that are thought to give you an advantage.
These words often contain a variety of vowels – almost every word in the English language uses either A, E, I, O or U at some point – or some of the most common letters.
Unfortunately, there are no words in English that consist entirely of vowels, so we have to settle for the next thing: a five-letter word with four of them.
While these words give you the edge in the realm of vowels, you can also start with some words that use the most commonly used letters in the English language.

R, T and N take the top three spots, so producing a starter word with all the top five words would certainly be a good start.
Although this list is extensive, running on thousands of entries, it does not cover every possible five-letter permutation (it includes only 2,315 of the more than 12,000 five-letter words in the English language).
It Is Well
So which word contains the largest amount of helpful, commonly appearing letters, and is also – crucially – in the Wordle list?
According to Chris Wanek, a TikTok user who wrote and ran a computer script to determine the best possible game starter, that word is ‘LATER’.
After being inspired by a fellow student who claimed that colloquially the best word to use is ‘IRATE’, Wanek copied the entire word list, then made a script to calculate the frequencies of each letter.
The script then scored each word based on the frequencies of the letters in the word, and then calculated the optimal starting word.

If you really want to challenge yourself, you can take the opposite approach and start with a five letter word that is unlikely to be of much help.
That word is the consonant-laden ‘XYLYL’, a scientific term for “some isomeric monovalent radicals C8H9 derived from the three xylenes by the removal of a hydrogen atom.” A password reset email has been sent to your account email address, but may take a few minutes to show up in your inbox. please wait at least 10 minutes before attempting another reset.
